Often we are asked IPX4 is this the same as IP44? It can be a little confusing but if you are fitting a light in a bathroom you need to have a light that is protected or sealed against water ingress. IP stands for ingress protection, the next number is protection against particles, it's the last number that is important for wet areas. This last number need to be 4 to be safe for a bathroom in zone 1.
Bathroom lights should always be fitted by a qualified electrician. Bathrooms require a larger degree of protection than kitchens, for this reason the fuse board will also need to have RCD protection. Installing bathroom lights requires lots of safety. Use Bathroom Safe Lights, Zone one lights are IP44.
