Terms & Conditions


When you place an order with Lighting And Lights (an on-line trading name of Hickin Electrical Wholesale Ltd.) you are deemed to have accepted the Terms and Conditions set out below. Please read this page carefully as it contains important information. All products supplied by Lighting And Lights comply with current EU standards. The terms and conditions set out below do not affect your statutory rights.  

ORDERING AND PAYMENT  All payments to Lighting And Lights are in British Pounds Sterling only. Payments must be made by debit, credit card, Paypal and Amazon payment gateways and will be taken when your products are ordered. When you have placed your order on our website we will send an automated confirmation email with your order number. If you do not receive this email (check your junk folder!) please let us know on Once you have placed your order it cannot be cancelled, so please check carefully before placing your order. Remember to check the size of the product as it can often look smaller/larger in the picture. If you are unsure or have any questions about a specific product just click on the Ask a Question option on the product page and we will be happy to help.

DELIVERY  In most cases we dispatch on the next working day for orders placed before noon on weekdays. Orders placed after noon on Fridays should reach you in most cases on the following Tuesday or possibly the Monday. Orders placed on weekends will be dispatched, where possible, to reach you on the following Tuesday. If products are out of stock we will advise you of your expected delivery date the day before we send the items. The David Hunt Collection is normally dispatched within 2-3 weeks as this range is made to order.

When your order is ready to be dispatched you will receive an automated e-mail advising you when to expect your items. Sometimes circumstances outside our control, such as adverse weather conditions, may cause deliveries to arrive later than expected. If you have ordered more than one item these may be delivered separately and possibly from different locations. We make very effort to inform you if we know your order will be split in this way.

If you are not at home when the courier arrives a card will be left with contact details so you can re-arrange a delivery and they will also try again the following day. If the deliveries are not successful or mutually re-arranged the goods may be returned to us. If this happens we will have to charge for any further deliveries. This will apply even if the original delivery was free.

Delivery to most of UK MAINLAND is FREE OF CHARGE for orders over £50.00 For orders under £50.00 to most of UK mainland there is a flat rate charge of £4.80. For Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Island, Republic of Ireland and other non mainland addresses with a UK post code delivery is charged at a flat rate of £14.00. We regret that we are unable to deliver outside these geographical locations. If you wish to change the delivery address after you have placed an order please let us know as soon as possible. If our courier has not been arranged this may still be possible.

DELIVERY HASN'T ARRIVED  In the unlikely event that your goods do not arrive when expected please contact us immediately on 01643 702314 or in writing to Please quote or have your order number to hand as this will help us track down your order quickly.

CHECK ITEMS IMMEDIATELY AND REPORT DAMAGE  Once you receive your delivery please check for damage straight away. Damages must be reported to us with 48hrs. Even if you intend to return the item any damage must still be reported, as after this 48 hour period it is deemed that the items have arrived in satisfactory condition and no claims will be acknowledged or damaged returns accepted. We will require a photograph of the damage as in some instances it may be possible just to replace a broken glass shade rather than the whole fitting as this will reduce the inconvenience and waiting time. Where this is not possible we will arrange for a replacement to be sent on receipt of the damaged item.

RETURNS  In the unlikely event that you receive the wrong product, or you wish to return the product for any other reason, please contact us within 14 days of receipt. Goods cannot be returned to us after 14 calendar days of receipt and all returns must be notified to us prior to return. Returned items must be UNUSED and in the ORIGINAL PACKAGING and accompanied by the ORIGINAL COPY of the Lighting and Lights RECEIPT and received by us within 14 days of issuing you with your RETURNS NUMBER. The cost of returning unwanted items will be the customers responsibility. Items that are returned to us remain the customer’s responsibility until they are received by us in good order (unless damage has been notified). We therefore strongly recommend that you retain your proof of posting in case the parcel gets lost or damaged and you need to make a claim from your courier or Royal Mail. Should the returned items be damaged in any way when they are received by us (unless damaged has already been notified) we reserve the right to reduce the refund paid to you.

Our returns policy does not apply to goods purchased on trade terms. Due to the nature of business to business transactions no returns will be accepted. This however does not affect your statutory rights.

Lighting And Lights are not liable for any additional costs incurred by delay to electrical work due to late arrival of items, damage, or if a product is found to be faulty. The electrical contractor has not been appointed by us and does not form a part of the sale or service we provide to you.

WARRANTY  We offer a 12 month guarantee on all our products (except light bulbs). This warranty covers electrical faults only. In the unlikely event that your light fitting develops a fault within 12 months of purchase, we will repair or arrange for a replacement to be dispatched on receipt of the faulty fitting and your original Lighting and Lights receipt.  We therefore recommend you retain your Lighting And Lights receipt and your credit card receipt for at least 12 months in case you need to contact us for a replacement. Please note: The cost of returning faulty items will be the customers responsibility. Should your light develop a fault within the guarantee period, please contact us on before returning the item to us. If your item is covered by warranty we will issue you with a returns number and will only accept returned items that have been issued with a returns number. We test each faulty product and replace or repair, at our discretion, providing the item has not been modified, abused or is simply suffering from wear and tear. In addition to this some of our light fittings come with a manufacturers warranty and this will be clearly shown on packaging or fitting instructions. Some of the more recently introduced LED light fittings have a manufacturers guarantee on the bulbs. If you are not sure if your fitting is covered by warranty and have your order number or receipt will be able to assist you. Lighting and Lights is unable to repair or replace products that have not been purchased directly from us.


PRIVACY POLICY  At Lighting And Lights we are very careful with your personal information. Your personal details will not be disclosed to any third party outside of this company for marketing purposes. Your payment details are not stored by Lighting And Lights, or our other websites. We use secure payment gateways, who are trusted reputable companies. We do not sell or export your data to anyone. We may contact you in the future with products that may be of interest to you, or to ask for your opinion about the service you have received. Should you not wish us to contact you in this way, please contact us on and we will remove your details from our mailing list. Cookies are tiny snippets of code which are stored on your computer to help us ensure our website works well when you visit us and to make shopping on our site simple. The cookes are useful to your shopping experience - for example, they remember the last page you looked at, what you have put in your shopping basket and help make the checkout process easier for you to use. Below you will find details of the cookies used within this site. Rest assured the use of COOKIES within our site will not compromise your personal information. WE DO NOT sell or export information outside of our company, and take great care of your data in accordance with the Data Protection Act. We hope to shortly be able to offer you the option of opting in or out before we turn cookies on - at this stage it is work in progress. We have completed a site audit to identify our first party COOKIES these are listed below and again in the PRIVACY information page within this site.

vscommerce - A session identifier cookie that disappears after the browser is closed. This is a unique ID that references the database entry holding information such as the basket contents, logged in status and other information

VSCurrency - An identifier that references the currency the prices are displayed in

VSVatPrices - An identifier that references if prices are shown inclusive or exclusive of VAT

VSCategoryGroup - An identifier that references the last top level category visited

VSCourierID - An identifier that references the courier the customer has selected

VAT  Value Added Tax is included in your checkout total. The rate is 20% for orders made from the UK.

COMPETITIONS & PRIZES  To enter any Lighting And Lights competitions you must be a UK resident and over 18 at the time of entry. Competitions are not open to employees and family members of Lighting And Lights or any part of Hickin Electrical Wholesale Ltd. Only 1 entry per person is accepted. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Winners will be notified by email or telephone and the decision of our company directors is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes are subject to availability and in unforeseen circumstances we (Hickin Electrical Wholesale Ltd) reserve the right to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value and in exceptional circumstances to amend or cancel the competition without notice.
