Pendant Cluster Lights – Better when we’re together…

CEILING PENDANT CLUSTERS

Is one light enough in my room?

Pendant clusters are fast becoming the first choice for lighting from a look that some considered a little unconventional when they were first shown by lighting designers. In fact, they have addressed a potential issue that many of us may experience with another popular light of our times; the single ceiling pendant.

The styling and effect of single ceiling pendant lights are fantastic and well worthy of lighting up intimate dining tables and kitchen islands, but the drawback is that they generally only have a single light source available to use with them. Whilst this is great for adding a focused light, if it is the main source of light in a room, you may find that the light does not quite reach the corners.

Enter the mighty ceiling pendant cluster! With all the contemporary styling to rival that of a modern chandelier, you are able to keep the state-of-the-art look but with all the illumination that you need. If you have plenty of electrical points available on your ceiling, you can choose to hang multiple ceiling pendants in a row, or any other shape that suits. If you only have one or two, then the below options will be ideal for you.

Cluster pendants can be utilised in several ways:

  • Multi hanging at a similar level
  • In a spiral effect to offer a wider vertical illumination
  • Used with ceiling hooks to create a wide spread of light throughout the room
  • Used with spreader bars to create a sculptural look and a wider spread of light
  • Hang at sporadic varying heights for an abstract look

All of the above options will offer a great source of ambient light so it’s really down to what look you prefer! We’ll walk you through our favourite pendant clusters and why we love them…

Glass Pendant Cluster

Above, you can see the popular Brinley 6 light glass ceiling pendant cluster with old bronze finished metalwork. The lights all hang at the same level and this, combined with the glass shades which allows the illumination to seep sideways too, results in a bright and inviting level of ambient light which is perfect for the main light source in this kitchen.

Pendant cluster lights used in a spiral are great at adding light in taller spaces, or as a longer drop over stairwells. Above, we can see the effortlessly elegant 7 light ceiling pendant cluster spiral light named Fin by Original BTC. Made in natural white fine bone china, the illumination passes through the pearlescent sheen in between the ribbing for a subtle, glare free light and where the shade bottoms are open, it allows a focused light on to the table below, making it perfect for curling up with your favourite book.

Shown here with matching ceiling hooks, you can easily position to offer the perfect shape to illuminate any shape of room. Even better, what about having some additional hooks that you can use to further spread the light when needed? That would be an ideal solution for over an extending table in a dining room for example.

Hatton Triangular pendant cluster

The Hatton is another pendant cluster on offer from Original BTC. This 3 light pendant cluster light features a more sculptured effect with a triangular frame. With matching form in the three dimensional geometric shades, this is ideal for those seeking a uniform and symmetrical effect. The shades are spread to offer a great main source of ambient light in any modern room. You can also use the spreader bars for a more eclectic effect if required, as demonstrated by the Alfredo ceiling cluster light below.
