Light your Home with Love! The Sentimentality behind Finding the Perfect Light

How do you find lights that you love?

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of when you move into a new home and you plan your rooms with meticulous care, choosing furniture, ornaments and lighting for a style that you’re proud to show all of your visitors.

Before long, you may find that you fall out of love with your rooms, brush the ornaments aside when you’re dusting before forgetting to put them back in position and no longer enjoy the aesthetics of your lighting that has not moved with the times.

We’re all busy in our everyday lives and can all admit to getting in, doing the necessary chores before flopping on the sofa for a bit of quiet time, staring into a screen of some description. Chances are, that’s exactly what you’re doing when you’re reading this! If so, I dare you to look around the room you’re in and really look. What would you change in this room if money was no object? What do you still love about the room? And what (if you’re entirely honest with yourself) needs to go?

It’s time to inject some time and effort into this room – just like a ‘date night’ in a relationship, a little love and attention can really go a long way with your home too. So, slap on the paint, get some new curtains but most of all look at your lighting. The romance of a beautifully illuminated room will soon be a reality.

As a general rule of thumb, we find that the lighting in bedrooms and bathrooms are the ones that we don’t change quite as often, generally due to the fact that far less people will see these rooms, so we end up putting up with lights that we fell out of love with years ago, just that little bit longer than we perhaps should.

Our homes all come with an architectural style that is hard to ignore, so choosing lighting that works in harmony and in keeping with the style is a fool proof way to deliver a well thought out interior.

Generally in our bathrooms we enjoy a more modern look, but even if you’re one to stick to tradition, you really can’t beat a great bathroom chandelier. Adding a sense of sparkle and brightness to the smallest rooms in your home is sure to lift the design and offer a sense of opulence to your relaxing soak.

If you want to add a traditional element to a bathroom, a dark paint works wonders but it will darken the overall space and may lead to dark corners, so if you opt for a chandelier, you’ll be delighted to hear that there are also a selection of bathroom rated wall chandeliers to help spread the light around the room.

Moving into the bedroom now – and as we spend so much time in this room that we should take time to ensure it helps us to relax and unwind.

For period homes, there are some brilliant reproduction lights that are based on examples of the lights from the time. Choosing a metal bedstead and simple furnishings will go well with creating this look, along with some black and white pictures on the wall. A great example is the Amarilli:
