Fall in Love with your Lighting this Valentines Day – Meet your match!

February is here and around the corner is Valentine’s Day. The day has been associated with romantic gestures since the 14th Century, but it really stated to gain momentum as we recognise it today, during the 18th Century. Flowers, confectionary and handmade greeting cards were exchanged by lovers which became known as valentines and the symbols used include hearts, doves and the winged figure of Cupid. Today, we add evenings out, clothes, jewellery and gift cards to this list in an effort to spoil and impress our loved ones.

Although never recognised as a public holiday, it remains celebrated across many countries. It is predominantly valued as a concept by couples, yet it also offers an opportunity to express feelings towards someone who is currently unaware of them, either by declaring your love or by choosing to remain anonymous.

It’s all just a bit of fun really, except perhaps for those whose affections are unrequited. It brings a lightness to what can otherwise be a bleak and cold month, adding splashes of pink and sparkles throughout.

Now what about your home? It is undoubtedly one of your biggest ever purchases, or at least one of your largest monthly outgoings. Surely this deserves a bit of attention at this time of year? Whether you share your home with a loved one or not, you can still make some changes to your décor to make you fall in love with your home all over again. With the simplest of refreshes, you can get back the warm, butterfly feeling every time you enter the room, as when you first saw it.

Below we have a fun way to ‘speed date’ to find the perfect partner for your home. Simply click on the lights that appeal to you most to see your personalised selection!
