True Blue; Blue Lighting Shines Bright

It’s true blue, baby, we love blue lights!

As every year passes, we see a new colour favourite come into ‘fashion’. I’ve put that in inverted commas, as once a colour steals the limelight, it does take a while to fall from favour. For example, it was millennial pink that was all the rage TWENTY YEARS ago, yet we’re still seeing this colour used in successful interior designs.

Blue is the new Black, and you heard it here first.

Blue Lights by Lighting and Lights

Midnight blues are still great when you’re after something dramatic; baby blues are always a win when you want something soft and comforting. But the colour for this decade is true blue. Classic, unadulterated blue.

Hundreds of years ago, blue was a luxurious colour as there was limited natural resources with which to dye fabrics. It was therefore only worn and chosen by the wealthiest.

Today, blue resonates with us as a stable colour, a primary colour. It symbolises trust, reliability, confidence and intelligence and I’m sure there’s some traits that we’d all like to emulate in that list!

This blue is adept at working with other colours well and can be dressed up or dressed down depending on your preferred look.

It can work with natural materials, as it’s the colour of the sky and sea. Teamed with woods, bamboos and wicker, it looks fantastic.

If you’re after some luxury, team it with crystals. It’s great teamed with another trend we’re seeing; which is crystal taking a more chunky feel. Larger pieces or textured glass will add a sparkling accent in a more contemporary feel.

As blue has been popular throughout history, we can easily add retro or period looks to the colour with ease.

Blue is a colour that can absorb light, so it’s best to ensure that you have adequate levels of light when introducing this colour.

If you use a dimmer switch (with a dimmable light and bulb), then you can create the exact mood you need with ease.

So, get some blue-sky thinking and get some blue beyond the horizon for the look of the twenties in your home!
