Bulbs are housed within the body of the fitting, these can be dimmed to allow a mellow light for evenings entertaining or watching the TV. If you do not have a dimmer switch it may be worth installing one, they are relatively cheap. This will allow you to choose very bright sparkly light or mellow ambient light at the turn of a dial.
