Welcome to The Celestial!<\/strong><\/p>\n

For those of you that have read the story of Evie and Frankie, you will already be aware of The Celestial\u2019s successful refurbishment which was written to honour National Storytelling Week – 28th<\/sup> January until the 4th<\/sup> February 2017.<\/p>\n

For those who are new to our (fictional) hotel, we hope that you can get some inspiration from the below. If you want to hear about the journey and inspirations behind the hotel, you can read their story here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Celestial opens its doors to you and invites you learn the lighting secrets which helped to make it such a success. So sit yourself down and be prepared to relax and unwind as you take a visit to the enchanting Georgian boutique hotel.<\/p>\n

The ground floor<\/strong> was designed as the water level, inspired by lakes, rivers and the open seas. For the reception area, they used seeded glass to add the appearance of water splashes safely to the lights. The lights they chose were IP54 rated, and were also used outside. They loved the idea that this helped bring the outside in to the area too. Although the design of the light itself was reminiscent of the early Victorian era, the vintage charm of these lights complemented the Georgian hotel beautifully.<\/p>\n

Over their long reception desk, they used two ceiling pendants.\u00a0Adding to the ambient light, they used two wall lights on each wall. The artwork was hung centrally with a wall light either side.<\/p>\n

Outside, at the centre of a circular driveway was a railed grassy area upon which stood an old oak tree. Around the outside perimeter of the drive, there were stepped raised beds used to create the border. Every 5 metres or so, stood a pillar light which allowed the customers to feel welcomed in from the dark.<\/p>\n

At either side of the front door, they used two of the larger wall lights in the same style, which also illuminated the steps safely from the car park.<\/p>\n

The dining room<\/strong> was inspired by a boating lake, using boat shaped table with chairs with oar detailing to the backs. The lighting in this room was kept to a table lamp in each corner, wall lights halfway along each wall and three ceiling lights running along the length of the room.<\/p>\n

For the table lamps, they chose yacht shapes, which were each placed on a shelf in the corners of the room. The wallpaper was blue with glitter that glistened like sea foam so it appeared that the yachts were floating on water which added to the ambience.<\/p>\n

Ceiling Lights used were made in quality brass with a polished finish and prismatic glass shades resplendent of the glory days of luxury liners. The prismatic glass offers a gently sparkling glare free light for an added decadent touch.<\/p>\n

They decided on wall lights inspired by traditional bulkhead lights, offering the same quality and attention to detail as when they were first produced. The light is gently diffused through the frosted glass. The shape is reminiscent of portholes, adding another dimension to the boating experience.<\/p>\n

The Lounge <\/strong>was inspired by a day out and a picnic at a lake with the same blue glitter wallpaper used. Large images looking out from a central point across a lake adorned the walls, making it feel like the room was an island in the centre. Frankie added deckchair style chairs, along with matching stripe sofas to add to the ambience. The ceiling was painted in broad brushstrokes in pale blues and whites which emulated wispy clouds on a summers\u2019 day.<\/p>\n

A large gold coloured dome ceiling pendant took the place of the sun, teamed with a warm bulb and with the gold shade inner, it brightened up even the dullest of days.<\/p>\n

With the sun taking the main glory for illumination, large picture lights were used to illuminate the images in a matching warm tone.<\/p>\n

In two opposite corners, subtle floor lamps were placed for added ambient light.<\/p>\n

One was chosen to emulate marsh flowers illuminated by the sun and the other, to replicate reeds growing at the lake edge.<\/p>\n

The bar <\/strong>was inspired by a luxury yacht. The use of cream leather, warm brown tones of wood mixed with chrome was the theme, leading out to a boat deck at the rear which formed part of the patio. Frankie and Evie were aware that real yachts generally had a low ceiling height and therefore utilised recessed ceiling spot lights, but this was a grand Georgian house with ceiling heights to match!<\/p>\n

Most yachts have limited floor space, which is the same as the bar at The Celestial, so sticking with tried and tested yacht design, they used table lamps to provide the rest of the illumination. They chose warm taupe shades teamed with warm brown leather effect bases.<\/p>\n

To keep the modern, luxurious feel with the colourways whilst adding some charm, they added two oval pendants to the ceiling.<\/p>\n

For the spa area<\/strong>, which is situated in the basement, the inspiration was taken from the ground, with rich minerals and earthy tones with dark woods. The ambient lighting was designed to be warm and subdued to allow the guests to relax and feel comfortable. They decided on recessed wall lights at two levels and used ingress protection rating of 54 to ensure safety against splashes.<\/p>\n

For the walls, they chose a grill effect recessed wall light that can be installed with the grills directing the light up or down depending on the requirement. Used at floor level and halfway up the wall, they offered a subtle illumination. The warm tones of the solid brass in an antiqued finish matched the earthy tones they were striving for.<\/p>\n

To keep the look simple, they used these pointing down when positioned halfway up the wall, and facing up when positioned at floor level. Alternating these around the spa area, it offered safe illumination that was warm and relaxing.<\/p>\n

The next floor<\/strong> was inspired by greenery, forests, trees and leaves. Evie enjoys the changing colourways inspired by nature when out walking with her dog. This is the start of the guest accommodation and the inspiration from the rooms came from favoured forests around England, each beautiful in its own unique way.<\/p>\n

And now on to the top floor<\/strong>, inspired by the sky in different elements. The sky offers versatility, from the warm tones of a sunny day, to the texture of a moonlit sky, the welcoming softness of the clouds and a glimpse into infinity through the stars. Evie believes that the sky is no limit when it comes to The Celestial and this is demonstrated clearly in the design of these rooms.<\/p>\n
