The reason why a light fitting would be double insulated is that it is designed to be fitted where an earth connection isn’t present in your home. If you imagine a Class 1 light that is earthed has an issue and the wire becomes loose and touches the body of the light the danger of the light becoming live is saved by the earth wire taking away the danger and then tripping out the fuse on your circuit board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
